Privacy policy

Privacy Policy. Effective date: 6 October 2026.

1. Who we are

1.1. This Privacy Policy explains how Poseydonia (“Poseydonia”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal data of visitors to the website poseydonia.com (the “Website”).

1.3. We process personal data in line with applicable data protection law, including the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data, and, where it applies to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What data we collect

  • Data you give us. When you use the contact form we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional) and the content of your message, together with the language and page you sent it from.
  • Technical and usage data. If you accept analytics cookies, we collect data about how the Website is used: pages viewed, actions on the page, referring source, device and browser type, approximate location and IP address.

We do not ask for, and do not intend to collect, sensitive personal data (such as health, religion or biometric data). Please do not include it in your messages.

To choose the language of the Website we infer your country from your IP address using a local copy of the DB-IP Lite database (IP Geolocation by DB-IP, CC BY 4.0). Your IP address is not sent to any external service for this purpose and is not stored.

3. Why we use your data and on what basis

  • To respond to your enquiry and prepare a shipping proposal — based on your consent and our legitimate interest in running our business, and, where you ask for a quotation, to take steps before entering into a contract.
  • To understand and improve the Website (analytics) — based on your consent, given through the cookie notice.
  • To keep the Website secure and prevent spam — based on our legitimate interest.

We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for automated decision-making.

4. Cookies and analytics

4.1. The Website uses a small amount of browser storage to remember your cookie choice (strictly necessary) and, only if you click “Accept”, the analytics service Yandex.Metrica, which uses cookies to measure traffic and may record anonymised on-page behaviour (session replay and click maps).

4.2. If you click “Decline” or make no choice, analytics cookies are not set and Yandex.Metrica is not loaded. You can change your choice at any time by clearing the Website’s data in your browser; the cookie notice will then appear again. You can also block cookies in your browser settings.

4.3. Yandex.Metrica is provided by Yandex; its privacy terms are available at yandex.com/legal/confidential.

5. Who we share data with

We share personal data only with service providers that help us operate the Website and handle enquiries, for example hosting, email and analytics providers, and only as far as needed for those purposes. Enquiries may be handled by our team and trusted shipping partners where this is necessary to respond to your request. We may also disclose data where required by law or by a competent authority.

6. International transfers

Some of our service providers (including hosting and analytics providers) may be located outside the UAE. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we do so as permitted by applicable law and take reasonable steps to protect it.

7. How long we keep data

We keep enquiry data only as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterwards, normally no longer than three years after our last contact, unless the law or a contract requires longer. Analytics data is kept for the periods set by the analytics provider. We delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed or when you withdraw consent and we have no other lawful basis to keep it.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccurate data; request erasure; restrict or object to processing; receive your data in a portable format; and withdraw your consent at any time (withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it). You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

To exercise your rights, email chartering@poseydonia.com. We may need to verify your identity and will respond within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days.

9. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted HTTPS connections, access controls and spam protection on forms. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

The Website is intended for business users and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always available at poseydonia.com/en/privacy-policy/, with its effective date at the top.
